Selling Air Tickets, Hotel Rooms and Car Rentals

While airlines, for the most part, no longer pay commissions to travel agents, many people still prefer to buy air tickets from an unbiased source - the travel agent.  With the training you will receive and the air reservations software available to you, you will be able to find better deals than your customer can find himself by going to the internet or directly to the airlines.  Fees for this service are now universally charged by travel agents - and so can you.

Another income stream results when you make a hotel reservation or arrange for a car rental for your customer.  Both hotels and car rental companies generally pay a 10% commission.

In order to efficiently sell air tickets, hotel rooms and car rentals your new travel agency will be equipped with the finest computer Global Distribution System (GDS) available.  You will be using the Sabre eVoya WebTop system to book air tickets, hotel rooms and car rentals - and much more.  As a Certified Travel affiliate, you will pay no fees for the use of this system - if you subscribed to the system directly through Sabre you would have to pay $40.00 per month to use it!  This is the same system used by thousands of fully accredited travel agencies throughout the world.

Sabre software will be downloaded to your personal computer by following instructions and using passwords that we supply as a part of your start-up package.  Training, which used to take a week of classroom work, can now be accomplished in a day through use of a Sabre training manual we have developed.  You will be using this manual in the training sessions you will be attending.  To see a sample of the lessons included, click here.

The selection of the right GDS system is important to the success of your new travel agency.  There are four GDS systems available - Amadeus, Galileo, Worldspan and Sabre.  In 2002 the Topaz Group performed a study of sample airfares in 80 city pairs.  The results revealed Sabre is the leader among all GDS's in finding the lowest fares for departures from the United States.  Here's how Sabre performed versus the competition:

Comparison

Results of 480 sample fares

Average Savings

Versus Amadeus The Sabre system found the same or lower fare 94% of the time Average of $80.33 saved per itinerary using the Sabre System
Versus Galileo The Sabre system found the same or lower fare 84% of the time Average of $173.42 saved per itinerary using the Sabre System
Versus Worldspan The Sabre system found the same or lower fare 84% of the time Average of $44.02 saved per itinerary using the Sabre System

Overall, among the three GDS competitors - the Sabre system found the same or lower fare and average of 87% of the time and saved an average of $99.26.
