Selling Air Tickets, Hotel Rooms and Car Rentals

While airlines, for the most part, no longer pay commissions to travel agents, many people still prefer to buy air tickets from an unbiased source - the travel agent.  With the training you will receive and the Point & Click air reservations software available to you, you will be able to find better deals than your customer can find himself by going to the internet or directly to the airlines.  Fees for this service are now universally charged by travel agents - and so can you.

Another income stream results when you make a hotel reservation or arrange for a car rental for your customer.  Both hotels and car rental companies generally pay a 10% commission.

 In order to efficiently sell air tickets, hotel rooms and car rentals your new travel agency will be equipped with the finest computer Global Distribution System (GDS) available.  You will be using the Sabre Point & Click system to book air tickets, hotel rooms and car rentals - and much more.   This is the same system used by thousands of travel agencies throughout the world.

There are four GDS systems generally available - Amadeus, Galileo, Worldspan and Sabre.  The Topaz group recently made a survey of these four systems to determine which was best at finding the lowest fares.  The results of this survey are as follows:

Overall, among the three GDS competitors - the Sabre system found the same or lower fare and average of 87% of the time and saved an average of $99.26.
