Travel Agency Discounts and Familiarization Trips
Numerous travel discounts and familiarization trips (fam trips) are available to Certified Travel Network members. Virtually all travel vendors that offer these travel agent benefits require that the person taking advantage of them have an IATAN (International Airlines Travel Agent Network) Card. To qualify for an IATAN Card CTN associates must earn $5,000 in commissions per year. To renew the card the associate must maintain sales of $5,000 in commissions per year.
Cruise Line Companies accept the Cruise Industry Travel Agent card as proof that Certified Travel Network members are legitimate travel agents and entitled to privileges afforded to travel professionals by the cruiselines including reduced fares for cruises. This card is available to CTN members after the assocaite sells 5 cruises. The associate must maintain the 5 cruise booking per year to renew the ID Card.
Discounts of 75% off of the full coach fare are generally available. Spouses are also allowed to travel at reduced rates (50%) by some airlines. Each of the major carriers issues an allotment of "AD75" (Agency Discount 75%) coupons to Certified Travel each year. The number of coupons we receive is based on the revenue we produce for the airlines.
Eligible associates may request two agency discount coupons per year by calling headquarters. You must have your trip planned including airline, travel dates and destination before making a request. Discount coupons will then be granted if available for the airline requested. All associates will be notified on this page if surplus discount coupons are available in which case additional coupons ( beyond the two originally allocated) may be requested.
Most hotels offer travel agent rates. To secure a travel agent rate, call the hotel's central reservation number and ask for availability of travel agent rates for the nights you will be staying in the hotel. If available, the reservationist will quote the travel agent rate and tell you the requirements for getting that rate (usually, you must present your IATAN card at the time of check in). Be sure to identify your self as a travel agent with Certified Travel Services and give our IATA number if asked. Reduced rates will vary by hotel, but can be as much as 50% of the rack rate.
Most car rental companies offer travel agent rates. To secure a travel agent rate, call the car rental company's central reservation number and ask for availability of travel agent rates for the days you will need a car. If available, the reservationist will quote the travel agent rate and tell you the requirements for getting that rate (usually, you must present your IATAN card at the time of car pick up). Be sure to identify your self as a travel agent with Certified Travel Services and give our IATA number if asked.
Carnival Cruise Lines. Travel agent discounts of 50% off of brochure prices are generally available. To arrange for a 50% discounted cruise, phone the Carnival Reservations number with the ship and sailing date you are interested in and ask for availability of 50% confirmed travel agency space.
Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruise Lines. Travel agent discounts of 35% off of brochure prices are generally available. To arrange for a 35% discounted cruise, phone the Royal Caribbean Reservations number with the ship and sailing date you are interested in and ask for availability of 35% confirmed travel agency space.
Standby rates are available at $50.00 per person per day. To reach the Royal Caribbean/Celebrity Reduced Rate hot line, call 800-327-2056. You will be given instructions for applying for the reduced rate and a listing of ships that have $50.00 standby rates available. Space will be confirmed 2 weeks prior to sailing for all but European sailings and 4 weeks prior for European sailings.
Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL). Standby rates are available at $35.00 per person per day. To reach the NCL Reduced Rate desk, call 800-327-7030 and access the Reduced Rate Desk. You will be given instructions for applying for the reduced rate and a listing of ships that have the $35.00 standby rates available.
Princess Cruise Lines. Standby rates are available at $20.00 per person per day. To reach the Princess Reduced Rate desk, call 800-527-6200 and access the Reduced Rate Desk. You will be given instructions for applying for the reduced rate and a listing of ships that have the $20.00 standby rates available.
Other Cruise Lines. Call the reservations toll-free number and request information on travel agent reduced rate fares.
Tour operators sometimes offer fam trips at reduced rates to qualified travel agents. To determine availablilty of tour fam trips call the tour operator's toll free reservations number and ask to be transferred to the sales department. Request the sales representative for Oklahoma. You can then inquire as to whether fam trips are available and the procedures for applying for a fam trip.
